Relay Teams Full Marathon Opening in 2011

(Minimum three per team. Maximum four per team)

Variety of Events: Run or Jog the Irish Multimarathon Relay Marathon - 42.2km per team

The Irish Multimaraton Relay Marathon is an out and back course taking in the Clontarf promenade - Bull Island – the causeway - continuing along the promenade to the Kilbarrack road where participants will retrace their footsteps back to the start/finish line.

The Full Marathon relay team will cover this course twice.

Please note we do not cater for Walkers on the Full Marathon course.

The Relay(s)

The Relay takes place on the same Course as the Half Marathon and Full Marathon & the Relay Half Marathon - starting at the same time 11.00am.

Each Relay team will be given ONE timing chip at Registration on Friday or Saturday which the first person on Leg 1 will wrap around his/ her ankle. When they reach the person on Leg 2 they will pass the timing chip to them. Similarly Leg 2 will pass timing chip to Leg 3 person. He/ she will attach it to their ankle.

The above applies to a 3 person relay team.
4 person relay teams will do the same at Leg 4.

Note: Timing chips should be attached just above the ankle (i.e. not in your hand) otherwise it may not register a time at Finish.
Also note if you don’t finish with the timing chip you will not get an official finishers time for the team.

Teams of Three (only) – Please Read

Teams of 3 participants in a relay team. The distances are divided as follows:

Team of 3 (Members A, B, C)
Leg 1 A = 13.9 13.9 km ‘Start of Cycle Path’ Aid Station(top of Causeway)
Leg 2 B = 15.3 29.2 km ‘St Anne’s’ Aid Station (end of Causeway)
Leg 3 C = 13 42.2 km Start/ Finish

Leg 1 Begins at 10am at Start/Finish line. They will go as far as the Kilbarrack road turn point and return to the ‘Start of Cycle path’ Aid Station. Then pass the timing chip to Leg 2.

Leg 2 will go back to the start/finish line and return to ‘St Anne’s’ Aid Station on the Causeway. Then pass the timing chip to Leg 3.

Leg 3 will continue to the Kibarrack turn and follow the course back to the finish line. All finished.

The dry clothes bag drop off point will be at the Starting Area.

Participants are requested to put their dry clothes bag* into the Bag Drop Pen. Please ensure your number is on the bag. Relay teams will have one number (their race number) and a letter to distinguish bags.
Example: No. 12 - B (for person doing Leg 2)

*A Dry clothes bag is provided at registration. Following finishing your stage of the Relay you may need to change clothes due to rain or sweating. Your dry bag should also contain a drink to rehydrate and perhaps a snack. Do not leave valuables in Dry Bag as Organisers cannot accept responsibility for lost or mislaid bags.

Teams of Four (only) – Please Read

Teams of 4 participants in a relay team. The distances are divided as follows:

Team of 4 (Members A, B, C and D)
Leg 1 A = 10.8 10.8 km Turnaround (Kilbarrak Road)
Leg 2 B = 10.3 21.1 km (near) Start/ Finish
Leg 3 C = 10.8 31.9 km Turnaround (Kilbarrak Road)
Leg 4 D = 10.3 42.2 Start/ Finish

Leg 1 Begins at 10am at wind monument. They will go as far as the Kilbarrack road turn point. Then pass the timing chip to Leg 2.

Leg 2 Begins at Kilbarrack road turn point and go back to near the finish line. Then pass the timing chip to Leg 3.

Leg 3 will go as far as the Kilbarrack road turn point. Then pass the timing chip to Leg 4. Leg 4 will continue back to the Finish line.

Half Marathon Entrants are requested to be at the start area at 9.30am for a 10.00am start.

Prizes

There are no prizes for the relay teams as this is a group event.
Each member of the Relay Team will receive an Irish Multimarathon Medal.
